About
In 2022 Eet Meal Planning was born from a passion to make planning weeknight dinners easy, make cooking these meals a process that can be enjoyed and bring families together around home-cooked meals.
With our family-friendly Eet Products, we have done the hard work to make it easy for you to PLAN, SHOP and COOK your weeknight meals.
We trust that Eet Meal Planning will inspire many delicious meals around your table!!
Eet Principles
SEASONAL
The fresh ingredients in the Eet Recipe Packs are mostly seasonal.
Seasonal fruit and veggies are locally produced, affordable, and taste better.
SOUTH AFRICAN
Our recipes are tried and tested in South Africa. Yes, you get your quantities in the metric system / cups, your oven temperature in °C.
No fancy names or ingredients you have never heard of.
Our seasonal recipes are for the southern hemisphere, no soups/stews for Christmas and salads in July!
Our Recipe Boxes and Seasonal Recipe Packs are manufactured in Cape Town.
OUR RECIPES ARE ADAPTABLE
Eet's recipes are robust, adaptable and your can easily substitute ingredients with your families favourites.
We sometimes add suggested substitutions in the recipe notes. Where we have done this you can know that, that specific substitution has been tried and tested in our own kitchens.
We also make suggestions in our recipes for fussy eaters.
LOADED WITH FRUIT & VEG
Eet Recipes are complete meals (sides included), loaded with fresh vegetables and fruit.
DIFFERENT MEAL TYPES
Our meal plan solution allows you to easily vary main ingredients for your 4 weeknight dinners e.g. vegetarian on Monday, fish on Tuesday, red meat on Wednesday, and poultry on Thursday.
This ensures that you get a greater variety of protein in your diet.
If you do follow our suggested weekly meal plan you will also vary your starches: rice, starchy veg, pasta and bread.
COOK FROM SCRATCH & MIX YOUR OWN SPICES
We cook from scratch as we believe it's better for our health, more affordable and tastes amazing.
No funny sauces that you buy in sachets. You mix your own with a few staple pantry ingredients.
However, cooking from scratch is not always possible or perhaps just not your thing. If you prefer to buy rather than make your own we add this as an option in the recipes.
We mostly mix our own spices. We do this as most children don’t like hot spices.
This allows you to adapt your spice mix to YOUR family's needs.
When you buy your spices to stock up your pantry, it might feel like a lot to buy at first, but you are going to use them again and again in your recipes.
BALANCE
You will see that we strive for balance. We might include a bit of butter, cream or sugar, and a pasta dish here and there. Our vegetarian dishes may include animal products like chicken stock.
It's important to us that our own kids grow up with a healthy view of food and nutrition.
PANTRY STAPLES & FRESH HERBS LIST
Each seasonal recipe pack has a pantry staples list included.
This allows you to shop in bulk and use up what you buy. It also simplifies your weekly shopping.
Each seasonal recipe pack also contains a fresh herbs list.
These are the herbs you will be using repeatedly during the season.
Fresh herbs are flavorful and they also bring nutritional benefits and beautiful color to dishes.
Plant the herbs in your garden or keep them in pots on your kitchen window sill - they last surprisingly well and it’s a much cheaper option than buying fresh herbs for every dinner.
HAPPY FOOD MEMORIES
We are both foodies. We LOVE to try out new recipes.
Before we had the Eet Recipe Box in our own kitchens we would often try out new recipes online and from cook books but did not have a proper system in place to store our family favourites.
We wanted our kids to grow up knowing that they could ask for a favourite meal again and we would know where to find it!
